In the exquisite soundscape project I wanted to take listeners out of space by using everyday sounds from earth. I wanted this trip to space to be disorienting, intense, and exciting. The fundamental sound of the space ship was the lower frequencies of the microwave sample routed to a low frequency oscillator which helped create the pulsating/wobbling sound of the space ship in space. I intentionally changed the speed of the low frequency oscillator randomly to replicate the random shaking of a space ship. I also wanted to create a climatic part in the soundscape where the spaceship had to power through a scary part of space where the astronaut would have no idea if they made it. I achieved this by making a big buildup of tension followed by a moment of silence to create a flashback/slow motion feel as the astronaut focused on getting through space. Overall, I think my soundscape did a great job taking listeners out of this world.
